Film screening "Leaving Fear Behind" followed by Q & A with Lhamo Tso Amnesty International West

Date:
Tuesday, April 24, 2012 - 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Location:

350 Sansome Street, Suite 210, San Francisco

Come and hear first hand Lhamo Tso, a mother of four and the wife of imprisoned film-maker Dhondup Wangchen, talk about her husband and his documentary "Leaving Fear Behind" that focused on how Tibetans in Tibet felt about the 2008 Beijing Olympics and for which he was detained by the Chinese authorities in March 2008.

Dhondup Wangchen had just completed filming an extensive series of interviews with ordinary Tibetans who had bravely voiced to camera their true feelings on the upcoming Beijing Olympics and the Chinese occupation of Tibet. The interviews were smuggled out of Tibet at great risk and have been made into this remarkable documentary which has been seen screened in more than 30 countries and which was secretly shown to journalists on the eve of the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Join us to hear from Lhamo Tso, and learn of more ways in which you can help in the release of Dhondup Wangchen.

Prior to hearing from Lhamo Tso we will be holding a wine and cheese reception featuring local Tibetan artists. Come join us at the Amnesty West office in San Francisco for this amazing event!
